JUNE WINNER ANNOUNCED

The Box Butte General Hospital Dialysis Unit has a goal of optimal health for all of its patients. To assist in that goal, the dialysis staff has developed a phosphorous performance improvement project. “For the current quarter we are focusing on educating and encouraging behavior changes designed to protect our patients’ bones,” said Dialysis Unit manager Paulette Burkhardt, RN, Dialysis Nurse Manager. “Our current activity is a drawing for all the patients whose phosphorous levels reach the target of 3.5-5.5 mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter of blood - a deciliter being equal to one-tenth of a liter), as measured by monthly lab results, with winners announced for May, June and July.” The winner for the month of June is Barb Chandler, shown above receiving a $20 cash award last week, along with a certificate from Ms. Burkhardt. The July winner will be announced in August.
