Taking the worry out of living alone Box Butte General Hospital, in partnership Regional West Lifeline, provides personal response services 24-hours a day, 365-days-a-year to seniors in surrounding communities. Lifeline provides quick assistance whenever personal support is needed, especially in a medical emergency. The service is there when loved ones or caregivers can’t be, providing a sense of security for the subscriber as well as peace of mind for family and friends. Currently, Regional West Lifeline serves over 600 elders in Alliance, Hemingford and the rest of the Nebraska Panhandle. The program was started in 1985. By simply pushing a lightweight, waterproof button that can be either worn around the neck or wrist, a subscriber is immediately connected to a highly trained associate who has instant access to the caller’s complete health history and will quickly link each subscriber to the care they need. Lifeline monitors must undergo intensive training in gerontology, stress management and related topics on aging before they are certified to answer subscriber calls. Jane Parks of Alliance is Regional West Lifeline Program Manager. “Helping seniors live with confidence is a mission we hold close to our hearts and one that all of us take seriously,” she said. “We are proud to be a part of an organization that helps support the active and independent lifestyle of elders in our community.” Lifeline Systems was founded in 1974 by a husband-and-wife team of gerontologists – Drs. Andrew S. and Susan Dibner. Today, including Regional West Lifeline clients, the company supports over 2,500 community partners and more than 500,000 elders from its Massachusetts based operations. Over 20,000 calls per day are handled from elders in under 20 seconds each. More Information To learn more about Regional West Lifeline, call Jane Parks at 308.630.1121.
