The mission of Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing is to decrease complications that may arise from all types of wounds, including acute, chronic, post surgical (e.g. ostomies and continent diversions), post radiation, reconstructive and other wounds that may prove to be problematic, as well providing care for diabetic foot complications. The goal is to accelerate wound healing and to preserve and or enhance quality of life for patients requiring the services of a wound care specialist. BBGH’s Wound Care Coordinator is Carol Bauer, RN, BSN, CWOCN, CFCN. Ms. Bauer is a certified in Wound Ostomy Countenance Nursing (CWOCN) and certified as a Foot Care Nurse (CFCN). Ms. Bauer also gives educational presentations, provides consultations for long term care facilities, sees patients in acute care and provides outpatient care under the direction of your medical provider. Patients can access wound care through referrals from their family medical provider, a referring hospital, or by calling Box Butte General Hospital’s Wound Care Office, 308.762.4357 Ext. 3388.
