BBGH April Board Meeting

HCAHPS scores continue to improve and safety measures taken throughout the year. The Box Butte General Hospital April Board meeting was called to order promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29th in the Alliance Room at BBGH.

Press Ganey HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores, presented by CEO Lori Mazanec, showed drastic improvement for April. “We hit two areas with 100%... so we’re continuing to see great things with our staff and what they’re doing with patient interactions and overall patient experience.” Press Ganey survey reports can be accessed by anyone on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website, To receive a score of 100% in a category, all survey respondents have to select the “Always” option. Mazanec reported that in the last two years, the hospital has continued to trend upward with the scores.

James Koeteman, BBGH Safety Officer, presented the Annual Safety Orientation for the Board, briefing them on the Code system and future plans for it, new fire panel installation, panic alarm system, and Emergency Management during the previous snow storms. “We have a good, consistent Environment of Care group that we’re doing a lot of good work with right now,” he said. Koeteman also mentioned a regional exercise with a Code Orange (external disaster) will take place sometime in June. BBGH volunteered to be the evacuation facility, so staff will respond to the drill as if it were really happening. This exercise will not cause any changes in patient care.
