BBGH September Board Report

The BBGH Board of Trustees (Board) meeting was called to order at 12:00 pm Monday, September 28th, in the Alliance Room and via Zoom. Four board members were present with one absence. Discussions involved the progression of the Hemingford Clinic, an update on COVID-19, and a farewell to board member, Linda Schneider. The finance report and credentialing requests were approved as presented.

The Board and Executive team wished Linda Schneider a sincere farewell as this was the last board meeting of her term. Linda was thanked for her dedication to the hospital and patients over the six years she served. As board member Tom Furman presented her with a token of appreciation, Linda shared her sentiment, “I feel I have received more than I have given. I am so proud to have been part of this organization for the last six years.” Appointed to the Trustees by the Box Butte County Commissioners is Barb Straub, Village Administrator/Clerk of Village of Hemingford. Tom Cummings was reappointed to serve a second six-year term.

To adhere to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, BBGH will begin temperature screening for patients, visitors, and staff. Screening questions will continue as a part of the check-in process but will be modified to fit the current state of COVID-19. Clinical staff continues to wear eye protection and all staff is still required to wear face masks.

Nearly every BBGH employee has received their influenza immunization shot, which is a requirement of employment. The GNMSS Clinic is now offering influenza immunization shots. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends getting shots as early as possible incase of a COVID-19 exposure.

BBGH is still a collection site for TestNebraska. There are now 30 tests that can be collected each day. Test Nebraska provides results to the patient within 24-72 hours, and often longer if a weekend is involved, as officials are not processing tests on weekends. Visit www.testnebraska.com for more information on COVID-19 testing.

The Hemingford Clinic opens in its new location on Monday October 5th. The new address is 721 Cheyenne Ave Hemingford, NE 69348.
