Spring Has Arrived!

Rachel Carson reminds us “there is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature – the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter. All of us at Box Butte General are excited with the arrival of spring and the newness this season brings. We have a greater appreciation of the kindness and gratitude shared as we reflect on the seasons before. Although the past year has brought challenges to all areas of our wellbeing, this is a time to witness new beginnings, growth, and prosperity as a community.

The presence of Covid-19 continues and we are still learning a great deal about the virus. Having vaccines available helps us change the landscape and combat the strain it put on the healthcare system during 2020. The use of masks in large groups and hand hygiene are essential until all phases of the vaccine are complete. As more and more individuals receive their vaccinations, the stronger our population becomes. In our region, children are staying in school and participating in extra-curricular activities, others are holding events and smaller community gatherings, and the state is relaxing the overall directed health measures. All of these are possible with the exercise and care of the choices being made this past year.

There is a new hope for 2021, and a chance to return to what we know as normal. As Lady Bird Johnson said, “where flowers bloom, so does hope.” Box Butte General Hospital sees hope and continued great things coming, as we provide the highest quality of care and services essential to our patients striving to meet our mission to lead and innovate in healthcare delivery and community wellness.
