BBGH September Board Report

The Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) Board of Trustees meeting was called to order at 12 p.m. Monday, September 27th in the Alliance Room at BBGH. The month’s agenda included updates on Quality Management & Safety, a quarterly department update, and the results from an organization wide survey. The consent calendar and credentialing requests were all approved as presented.

Quality and Safety updates included the current state of COVID-19 testing. Chief Quality Officer Mary Mockerman stated that BBGH has temporarily exhausted the supplies for COVID-19 testing using the PCR testing machine. In order to continue testing patients in need, BBGH is sending collected tests to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. BBGH is seeking an alternative supplier for PCR testing supplies. There are free COVID-19 testing options for individuals seeking one. Community Action Health Center, Gering, Walgreens, Scottsbluff, and Nomi Health, Scottsbluff are free COVID-19 testing sites.

Information Technology (IT) Manager, Mandy Greve provided a quarterly IT update. The IT team is in the process of updating BBGH’s server host platform. This update will provide improved security throughout the hospital.

Chief Executive Officer Lori Mazanec shared the participation rate of BBGH’s Q12 engagement survey. The participation rate for the 2021 survey was 95%. This rate includes current BBGH employees, long-term travel employees, and excludes employees hired within the preceding 30 days. The Q12 survey provides accurate data of the current pulse of BBGH staff and provides areas for focus.
