BBGH August Board Report

The Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) Board of Trustees meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2022 in the Alliance Room at BBGH. The month’s agenda included an update on the status of the Meditech transition, a team goal presentation, and insight from Chief of Staff Dr. Narjes. The consent calendar, August financial report, and credentialing requests were all approved as presented.

Patient Finance Manager Carla Meng and Financial Counselor Rob Hood presented on the success of the Self-Pay team streamlining processes in their department as part of the organization’s performance improvement process.

Chief Operations Officer Jim Bargen provided an update for the hospital’s electronic health record conversion from Centriq to Meditech. The Meditech project team is currently testing appropriate integration into the database. The Meditech software team gave the project team and BBGH employees positive feedback for their breadth of knowledge. Staff is working through self-led trainings this month. The scheduled go-live date is November 1st.

Chief of Staff Dr. Narjes provided a brief overview of what the staff is collectively experiencing with patients. There has been an increase in rhino virus admissions. An obstetrics provider is currently being recruited, as was recently in Alliance for a facility and community site visit.

New BBGH employees include: Kylie Adams, Clinic Phlebotomist, Keeley Mazanec, Temp Tech, Sydney Rath, Nurse Aide/Ward Clerk, MaKena Turman, Assistant Cook, Kylie Casados, Nurse Aide/Ward Clerk, Tina Baxter, Cook, Maria Moreno, Environmental Services Tech, Jada Stinson, Nurse Aide/Ward Clerk, Payton Weber, Temp Tech, and Sarah Mracek, Cook. Also recognized was August Employee of the Month, Shantel Lurz, RN- Staff Nurse. Shana Marsteller, RN- Dialysis Manager, was also recognized for earning her certified dialysis nurse credentials. Jessica Hansen, RN- Staff Nurse, was recognized for receiving the NHAREF Laura J. Redoutey Health Care Career scholarship of $5,000. Lastly, Dr. Bruce Forney was awarded the Nebraska Medical Association 50-year Member award for his years of medical practice.  

The next BBGH regular board meeting is Monday, September 26th at noon in the Alliance Room. The public is welcome to attend.
