MEDITECH Expanse Conversion

Box Butte General Hospital along with Greater Nebraska Medical and Surgical Services will make its conversion to a new Electronic Health Record system, MEDITECH Expanse on May 1st, 2023. An Electronic Health Record (EHR) is an electronic version of a patient’s medical history maintained by the provider over time and includes clinical data relevant to the patient’s care with that provider.

Beginning May 1st, please use the bag provided at the Main Entrance or MAP Entrance to bring the following items to your appointment:

  • Current ID (driver’s license)
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Current medication(s)
  • Valid email address and cell phone number

This will help us confirm we have the correct patient information in our new system. (Bags can also be picked up at these locations: Alliance Community Pharmacy, Alliance Recreation Center, Dave's Pharmacy (Alliance/Hemingford), Safeway Pharmacy, the Senior Center)

With the rollout of MEDITECH Expanse, a new patient portal will be introduced, Meditech MHealth. MHealth is completely secure, so you can be confident that your private information is protected. Only you – or an authorized family member – can access your portal in MHealth. As a patient of Box Butte General Hospital and/or Greater Nebraska Medical & Surgical Services, enrolling in the MHealth Patient Portal will allow you to:

  • Securely message your care team
  • View and request appointments
  • Access billing statements and submit payments
  • See visit history and discharge information
  • Update personal information
  • Request prescription renewals
  • Pre-register for your visit
  • Review your lab results

Additionally, any billable service that takes place up to May 1st will be billed in the current EHR system. Patients with account balances in the current EHR will continue to receive their statements from that system until paid, and all visits beginning May 1st will be billed in the new system. This will generate two separate statements that require payment. Statements from the current EHR will be printed on blue paper and statements on the new EHR will be printed on green paper. We understand this may add some confusion, so please ask questions as you may receive two statements detailing separate patient visits.

To live by the mission to lead and innovate in healthcare delivery and community wellness, BBGH employed MEDITECH. For more information, including enrollment details, please contact the Information Technology Team at (308) 761-3075.
