ElectroDiagnostic Medicine

ElectroDiagnostic medicine is the study of diseases of the nerves and muscles. For example, a doctor would recommend an electrocardiogram (EKG) test to see if your heart muscles and nerves are working properly.

Problems can occur in only one part of the body or throughout the body. The results of the tests will help your doctor decide what is wrong, where it is occurring and how it can be treated.

Box Butte General Hospital offers a large battery of tests, including:

  • Treadmill stress testing
  • ABI-Ankle Brachial Index
  • ABP-Ambulatory Blood pressure
  • Heart monitor
  • Sleep studies
  • ECG/EKG

Patients needing one or more of these tests must have a referral from their attending physician or mid-level practitioner.
