Box Butte Health Foundation Programs
Endowment
Box Butte Health Foundation has established an endowment fund through the Nebraska Community Foundation to ensure quality healthcare for generations to come. An endowment is like a community savings account. Each year a portion of the endowment earnings provides a reliable source of annual income for Box Butte General Hospital, over and above patient-generated revenues. The endowment’s principal is never used, so your gift remains in place forever!
Jane’s Closet
Jane’s Closet is an outreach program that provides financial assistance and other services to cancer patients and their families. Funds are available for expenses such as gas, transportation, and meals. You can contact the Jane's Closet representatives - Lori Mazanec 308.761.3428 or Mary Goodell 308.761.3423 and either would be happy to assist you.
Educational Scholarship Program
Each year, the Box Butte Health Foundation awards five $1,500 scholarships to youth within our service area pursuing health occupations education. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic status and work or volunteer 16 hours at Box Butte General Hospital during the academic year. The mission of this program is to “grow our own” workforce by investing in our youth’s education and encouraging future employment at Box Butte General Hospital. Of previous scholarship recipients, 25% work at BBGH.
Pay It Forward (Employee Payroll Deduction Program)
“We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
The Pay it Forward program generates donations from employees to fund projects that promote a healthier environment for our employees and patrons. Employees are encouraged to give a minimum of $1.00 per pay period ($26 per year, 10 cents per day) to the program.
Gifts of Agricultural Commodities
The Agricultural Commodities program encourages area farmers and ranchers to save significant tax savings by contributing commodities such as corn or cattle to the Box Butte Health Foundation instead of making a cash contribution after selling commodities. When an agricultural producer transfers legal ownership of a commodity to the Box Butte Health Foundation, the producer does not realize taxable income from the sale but is still able to deduct the entire cost of the production of the commodity.
BBHF Golf Classic
